Forget Valentine’s Day – Pancake Day is where it’s really at during the month of February. It’s basically the only thing keeping everyone going following the post-Christmas blues and it’s one of the only days of the year that it’s acceptable to have pudding for your tea.
Well, it’s finally here and you have two choices (neither of which are ‘not having pancakes’, because that’s ridiculous): you can make them yourself or, if you’re rubbish at making them like I am, you can leave it in the capable hands of someone else.
Lucky for us in Nottingham, there are plenty of people who can save the day this Shrove Tuesday. Here are some of the places you should be able to get your pancake fix…
- The Pudding Pantry
A sweet lover’s dream, these guys are the experts on desserts so you better believe they’ve got a Pancake Day special on. You can get the cinnamon swirl (with apple compote & maple butter) or the black forest (with cherries & chantilly cream) … or even both on a big platter. Go on, treat yourself.
27-29 Trinity Square, Nottingham NG1 4 AF – @thepuddingpantry
- Rub Smokehouse
Proper American pancakes stacked high. Good luck finishing these bad boys, they don’t skimp on portion sizes (see the featured image – even I couldn’t finish them all!)
Adam’s Walk, 2-4 Fletcher Gate, Nottingham NG1 1QS – @rubyourselfie
- Annie’s Burger Shack
Serving pancakes on a daily basis as part of their breakfast menu, these are no mean feat to tackle! Choose from short or tall stacks and various flavours, including chocolate & banana and blueberry – you can even chuck some bacon or sausage into the mix if you feel like going for the full ‘New England’ experience.
5 Broadway, Nottingham NG1 1PR – @anniesburgershack
- Pitcher & Piano
Another good shout for brekky, P&P offers a choice of mixed berry or maple bacon pancakes. In its gorgeous church setting, you could say it’s the answer to your pancake prayers…
High Pavement, Nottingham NG1 1HN – @pandpnottingham
- Heavenly Desserts
If you fancy a bit of class and elegance with your pudding then look no further. Here you can get a more refined crepe-style pancake – ideally with a big scoop of ice cream and drizzled in chocolate.
